I changed from this vets 4 years ago . My cat suffered a terrible death having taken her to this practice my cat was goven an injection because she had digested something and I was told there was nothing more they could do . I went back when she was dying and I was visibly upset . The vet who saw her denied saying this. Instead of foung the kindest thing and puuting her to sleep i then had to drive her to an overnight vetinary and had a call in the morning graphically explaining that she was in a terrible state blood coming out of her nose etc and that she needed to be put down. It was traumatic to say the least . I would not recommend them .
We used Vets4Pets for 5 years when we lived in the area. They were always brilliant with our dog, had appointments available at short notice, and were easy to get hold of. Thank you for the care and attention over the years!

This is the complaint I had to send to them. There were three subsequent letter/ email exchanges before they managed to address all my concerns and I now accept that ET wasn't given any sedative intravenously- they just repeatedly failed to communicate what was happening. They won't get another penny from me. It was a f***ing horror show.

Dear sir/ madam
We have given all our business (we had 3 animals) to Vet for Pets over the last 10 years and have been totally satisfied with all the care we have received up until now; Catherine saved our cat Begbie 20 months ago after one of her colleagues failed to diagnose what was wrong with him.
In July we had our dog’s (ET) testicles removed. Due to necrotic tissue the operation cost £1300 (with all the pre and after care). I was more than happy to pay this. When we brought ET back post op (I think it was 3rd September) after the swelling and lumps returned, we were offered antibiotics (this amounted to £200 with the painkiller meds). I knew deep down that these probably wouldn’t work; I am concerned that I was (likely) offered false hope. I would have rather been told that there is no hope and accepted that rather than putting my dog through a further 5 days of hell culminating on his last day.
On the day (8th September) it took (at least) four attempts to insert a canular. One of these attempts they actually inserted in one of the swellings he had on his leg. I understand that it isn’t easy to find a vein through fur but this was more than that.
The first attempt saw the euthanising liquid seeping out of the bandage and on to the floor; luckily none of this first attempt entered his bloodstream. I cannot imagine what that would have looked like if it had only half worked; it doesn’t bear thinking about.
After the first canular failed he was given a full dose of intra-muscular sedative and we were told 3-6 minutes for effect. This had hardly worked after 10 minutes so a subsequent half dose was administered which started to work after a few minutes.
We were both involved in holding him still to insert all the subsequent canular’s. This was highly traumatic for both myself and my wife but we were both so in shock at what was happening that we went along with it. This should not have happened in front of us.
Just before he was euthanised he was given an intravenous (half) dose of sedative. Is this normal practice? Why isn’t the sedative just administered intravenously? As a direct result of this injection his breathing became horribly laboured and then he was (eventually- after a few minutes) euthanised through the canular inserted after the third dose of sedative was administered. It was like a scene out of a horror film.
I am serious when I say that I recently watched my mother die in hospital and that was less traumatic than the experience we had. If I’d had any inkling of how that was going to pan out I would have taken him home after the second failure and brought him back the next day to try again. It was a totally avoidable and unnecessary situation that we are both now scarred with. The poor dog just looking at us as if to ask ‘why are you doing this?’. My wife cried for 3 hours afterwards. Both of us are still terribly upset. We knew that he had to be put to sleep but this was not how it was supposed to happen. We were going to bring the children with us to say goodbye to him. Thankfully we decided against that. I cannot imagine how that would have affected them.
I am also very surprised that only vague inferences to his condition were offered when we returned to have him put to sleep. It seemed that we were the ones giving/ offering the diagnosis. Surely someone must have seen this on another animal or at least research the condition if they were unsure? We would have had greater piece of mind if something less vague had been offered as a diagnosis"
My wife could hear people in their reception laughing and joking when they are supposed to be quiet. There was also blood everywhere
Took my pet in with concerns about tummy issues, Holes Bay. Suggested an x-ray and blood tests but my suggestions were dismissed. I insisted on blood tests, and it turned out my pet had other issues I wouldn't have known about had I not asked for a blood test. I was sent away with gut meds and no advice or treatment for the other symptoms. Decided to try Ashley Rd, Poole for a second opinion and was told there's no concerns. I had to bring my pet back in as an emergency and the vet did not treat it as such and was uninterested, lacked empty and was not in a hurry to even try to help my pet. The vet watched my pet die in pain, only to tell me after the fact that the best thing would have been to put my pet down. If you love your pets, PLEASE do not bring them to this demonic veterinary practice to suffer neglect, they deserve only the best.

Have had some incredible service from these guys, a couple of difficult experiences due to the nature of our pets but they have rectified any issues and then gone above and beyond to amend. Dan (the owner) is incredibly knowledgeable and you can really see his love for animals. Kate (nurse) who's good vibes and positivity attitude really makes a stressful vets visit much more bearable, is a credit to Poole Holes bay. (Vets Chloe and Rachel were always Amazing with us and our rabbits it's such a shame they left). Overall a very good vets. These guys do a really hard, demanding job and I do just want to say thank you, we need a few more like you.

I took my pet here for the first time in a long while. I was made to feel like an irresponsible pet owner for not taking my pet to the vet regularly.
I agreed to the £282 blood test however was told that the bloods couldn’t be taken as my cat was biting and that was “what happens when you don’t take them to a vet regularly, they are not used to blood tests”. - how unprofessional and rude!
Please present me a cat or even a human who just loves a blood test.
I felt that the vet/nurse or whoever it was we saw was not knowledgable in her craft. She became task orientated and actually didn’t deal with the issue that I’d taken my cat for in the first place.
I remember why I stopped taking my cat here as I was treated this way in the past but unfortunately all the decent vets have closed their books for now so I had no choice.
