I can’t describe how marvellous this service is. For such a sad and heartbreaking event, from email replies from the outset, and James visit, and the aftercare provided, it is all outstanding. To have the chance to sit quietly and not see our boy panicking at the local vets was the best and most dignified goodbye.

If you are within the catchment area then do not opt for anyone else but James Fond. I said goodbye to my beautiful and sweet wolfhound today. It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life but knowing he was in the hands of Fond Farewells gave me relief. He will treat your pet with the utmost care and respect. A real animal lover doing one of the most important jobs there is. Thankyou for sending my boy over the rainbow bridge.

Back in May our lovely Westie Mabel had some issues that the vet thought she might not recover from. We spoke to James at Fond Farewell Vets and he reassured us that she would most likely be back to normal in 2-3 days. And she was! We had another 7 months with her, but last week we knew that we needed to call James again as she was in a bad way - he immediately confirmed that he'd come and see her. His calm demeanour when he arrived immediately helped us know we were in good hands and he confirmed that we were doing the right thing for Mabel. He talked us through everything and gave us space and time to say our goodbyes. He made a hard situation that bit easier to get through. We're so grateful to James and Suzy that they offer this service and that we were able to say goodbye to Mabel at home.

James and Suzy were so kind from our first encounter to putting our beloved dog a sleep. James was so lovely to both Cleo and us, he was gentle and kind, there was no rush and it made it so much easier for us to let James perform the final injection. He then left us to say our goodbyes before taking her to be cremated . When he returned with a basket to put her in she looked so peaceful with her head on her favourite toy, he then put a blanket over her but leaving her head uncovered and took her to his car. Tears in my eyes as I write this but it was definitely the best for Cleo and us, thank you Fond Farewell’s.

So our beautiful 15 year old golden retriever Sophie needed someone to help her on her final journey so we got in touch with James and Suzy. From the moment James arrived at our house he treated Sophie with such a care and compassion and dignity that she deserved. He greeted her with such a lovely kind way that she instantly relaxed. At such a difficult time it was made so beautiful. Sophie passed peacefully away and is now in doggie heaven. So thank you James a true gentleman.

The time came when we had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our 16yr old girl Gizzy. We contacted Fond Farewell first thing in the morning, James was at our house by 10:30am that same day. James was kind and compassionate, he explained all that would be happening, so we understood the process. We will be forever grateful to James for making sure Gizzys final moments with us were calm and peaceful. We take great comfort knowing she fell asleep for the final time at home where she was happy and there was no rush to say goodbye, James gave us all the time we needed. James took care of everything, from telling our vets to organising the cremation, he even bought her home. We couldn't have asked for anymore. We had James come to our home to put our beautiful Presa to sleep. Start to finish he was incredible, we couldn’t have wished for a more peaceful passing for our girl. He put us at ease, and spoke through everything he was doing and how she would be feeling which was very reassuring. You can tell James has a real love for dogs, and really cares about what he does. We also received a card in the post a few days later from James himself with a very touching message inside. Really couldn’t have asked any more of him at such a difficult time. He also helped us get a paw print, as he could see our failed attempts up on the table. We are so grateful.

We are so thankful that we found Fond Farewell Vets to come and put Scrumpy peacefully to sleep at home. It is never an easy thing to deal with but James’ kindness and compassion helped us no end. Scrumpy went to sleep peacefully and calmly with James giving us all the time we needed. He explained all that was happening and answered any questions we had in an unhurried quiet manner. His care for both Scrumpy and us was second to none. The fact that Scrumpy was placed in a bed with a blanket over him has made a massive difference to our last memory of him, he just looked as though he was comfortably asleep. I would highly recommend Fond Farewell Vets

We are so grateful to have found Fond Farewell Vets and cannot recommend James enough for the care he gave our beloved Duke during the most difficult time. From the initial heartbreaking phone call to when he attended our home, James was calm, softly spoken and guided us through everything with kindness and compassion. Nothing was rushed and everything was done at our pace. James gently took fur clippings and placed them in a beautiful box, then gently laid Duke in a comfy bed and covered him with a blanket, he looked so beautiful and peaceful like he was sleeping. Thanks to James our beautiful boy passed with dignity, no pain, no fear, and in his home surrounded by love which gave our family so much comfort during the most heartbreaking time.
