#2 Vet in Sturminster Newton, Dorset
Friars Moor Livestock Health Ltd is a veterinary clinic located in Sturminster Newton, offering services that cater to both routine and emergency needs, with a specialization in veterinary nurse training and extended hours for emergencies. The clinic holds a Google Maps rating of 4.3 stars based on 23 reviews, indicating a generally positive reception but with room for improvement.
Several reviews highlight the clinic's strengths, particularly in emergency care and customer service. A notable positive review from Guy Sutherland commends the clinic for its life-saving surgery on his Labrador, reflecting the clinic's capability in handling urgent and complex cases. Similarly, Emma praises the attentive and compassionate approach of the staff in managing her nervous Rottweiler, emphasizing the clinic's ability to handle animals with care and professionalism. Eleanor King also appreciates the friendly staff and prompt service, noting the clinic's efficient handling of her distressed King Charles Spaniel.
However, the clinic has faced criticism, as seen in reviews by Fran Pearce and Mia Cat. Fran Pearce recounts a disappointing experience with an out-of-hours visit for her dog, citing a high fee and inadequate examination, which led to her seeking veterinary care elsewhere. Mia Cat's review raises concerns about a temporary vet's handling of her Pomeranian during a vaccination, which resulted in lasting anxiety for the pet.
Overall, Friars Moor Livestock Health Ltd is recognized for its competent emergency services and supportive staff, though it may need to address consistency in service quality to improve its reputation further. Pricing details are not transparently provided, and potential clients are encouraged to contact the clinic directly for specific inquiries.

Last year I took Rica to Friars Moore when she collapsed on me when out walking. I thought she might have heat stroke although it was not a hot day in July. I got there just after 6 in the evening (out of hours time) and was informed that it would be a fee of £150. I agreed to this, what else could I do! On Examination, I would have expected the Vet to check Rica's heart and lungs with her stethoscope but she did not even remove it from around her neck. I was not impressed with the service and for them to expect me to pay that exorbitant fee for a less than satisfactory examination. When I challenged the practice manager later, she recommended that I found another veterinary practice. Not only did they lose my business but also the elderly lady that I look after that has 3 cats. their loss not mine.

The vet you hire on and off (Felicity) put a towel around my 1yr old 5.5kg Pomeranians face at Vets4Pets whilst getting his vaccine. Ever since he’s been a nervous wreck.

Extremely helpful..... Have a nervous 46kg rottweiler that needs medication and handling with care when visiting vets... The 2 young nurses that dealt with me were amazing........ They made me feel at ease which helped my girl to be at ease they came out to car to give her some sleepy meds then took her into a dark room to drift off. I was updated on her progress, fantastic service

Need an appointment for my King Charles Spaniel, as she seemed in a lot of distress today. Got an appointment for this morning. Very friendly staff, my dog enjoyed the visit and seems a lot more comfortable. So I’d like to say thank you for your help and support
